The USDA, Agricultural Research Service, Hydrology and Remote Sensing Laboratory in Beltsville, Maryland, is seeking a Research Physical Scientist/Research Hydrologist (Permanent, Full-Time). Salary is commensurate with experience, $86,335 to $133,465 per annum plus benefits. Citizenship restrictions apply.
Responsibilities include:
- Conduct research related to fundamental problems related to the operational use of remote sensing technology in agriculture, particularly in the area of modeling agricultural fluxes affecting the environment and agricultural productivity.
- Research the development and application of physical models simulating hydrologic and soil-plant-atmospheric processes at both micro and macro scales.
- Examine the interactions between climate, soil, and vegetation components over complex landscapes at a wide range of temporal and spatial scales.
- Collaborate with Unit and other ARS, NASA, NOAA, USDA, USGS, university, and private sector scientists to achieve objectives of the Long-term Agricultural Research (LTAR) Network and the Conservation Effects Assessment Project (CEAP).
