Postdoctoral Research Associate Position - Land Cover and Land Use Changes
We seek one highly motivated postdoctoral research associate to join the research team at the Earth Observation and Modeling Facility (EOMF) (http://www.eomf.ou.edu), University of Oklahoma. The selected candidate could start to work in fall semester 2020.
Post-doctoral Research Associate will be involved in the projects under the support from NSF and USDA. The primary research activities of the candidate are to quantify the spatial-temporal changes of land cover and land use in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Louisiana, USA, investigate the various driving factors for the observed changes in land cover and land use, and assess the consequence of such land cover and land use changes on climate, terrestrial carbon cycle, and tick-borne infectious diseases.
Qualification: The candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in one of relevant academic fields, for example, ecology, geography, natural resources, forestry, agriculture, environmental science, and Earth System science. The candidates may have good working experience in one or more areas: in-situ data collection, remote sensing, GIS, biogeochemical models, computer programming language (e.g., Python, JavaScript, IDL, C++, C), and statistic software (e.g., R, Matlab). The candidates need to have strong knowledge of multi-source land images from optical sensors (e.g., MODIS, Landsat, and Sentinel-2), microwave sensors (e.g., PALSAR, PALSAR-2, Sentinel-1), and LIDAR sensors (e.g., GEDI, ICESat). Good communication and writing skills are needed.
Compensation: Starting salary will be $50,000 per year. Postdoctoral research associate will receive the university employee benefit, including medical, dental and life insurance. An approximate start date for the position is flexible over the fall 2020. This position is currently funded for 3 years, and annual renewal of the position depends upon satisfactory performance from annual performance assessment.
