USGS Mendenhall Post Doctoral Opportunity in Hyperspectral Remote Sensing

This is a great opportunity to work for USGS as an USGS Mendenhall Post Doctoral Fellow. The Mendenhall Post Doctoral Fellowship is very prestigious and competitive (work closely with your research advisor to have a successful proposal). The topic of research will be hyperspectral remote sensing and more specifically something like: “A Comprehensive Global Hyperspectral Imaging Spectral-Library of Agricultural Crops (GHISA): in support of global food and water security studies and in design of future Landsat and other Spaceborne Hyperspectral Imaging Sensors (HIS)” The opportunity will be re-advertised soon, but the details can be found here: http://geology.usgs.gov/postdoc/opps/2015/15-3%20Thenkabail.htm

If you a are a fresh PhD (within last 5 years) or planning to complete sometime in 2015 then you are eligible to compete. In order to compete for a Mendenhall post doc position, the applicant must submit an original research proposal. The candidate will need to write a very innovative proposal (about 8 pages your research advisor will guide you through the process). Proposals should have sufficient creative latitude for a bright new person to create on their own. Preferably, you should plan to submit ASAP. Mendenhall have preference for US Citizens. Non-citizens can also apply.

If you are interested in writing a Mendenhall proposal on hyperspectral remote sensing of agriculture and water, please contact: Dr. Prasad S. Thenkabail ([email protected] or [email protected]). You will have about 4-6 weeks to submit the proposal and application (Dr.Prasad S. Thenkabail will help you through the process).
