Most important item this time is the search for a new vice-chair for LPV. Please feel encouraged to get involved and/or respond to us with ideas and questions about LPV activities! Best wishes Gabriela Schaepman-Strub (LPV chair) – [email protected] Miguel Román (LPV vice-chair) - [email protected] Jaime Nickeson (LPV support) - [email protected] LPV Newsletter No. 2 1. Search for a new LPV vice-chair, (starting March 2016) We are looking for a new vice-chair for LPV, starting his/her function as of March 2016. The current vice-chair, Miguel Román (NASA) will become LPV chair in March of next year and we therefore are seeking nominations for a new vice-chair to represent the validation community outside of North America. The LPV vice-chair role supports the chair and is expected to succeed in the role of chair after a 3-yr period. We are looking for a person who currently has an active role in the satellite product validation community and would like to further the coordination of global land product validation. As this role is an in-kind contribution to CEOS, the support of your home institution is necessary. Especially as the role of chair requires international travel support to CEOS WGCV bi-annual plenary and other international meetings. Please contact the current chair, Gabriela Schaepman-Strub ([email protected]) as soon as possible to obtain more information about the requirements and expectations for this position. Selection of a candidate is expected in early 2016. 2. Alessio Lattanzio selected as new surface radiation/albedo co-lead We welcome Alessio Lattanzio, currently at EUMETSAT, as our new focus area co-lead for surface radiation and albedo! Alessio Lattanzio has worked intensively on albedo validation and complements the existing LPV team to strengthen our link to validation activities for geostationary satellite products and the meteorological and climate community. 3.
