Tatiana Loboda

On May 26, 2016, Dr. Tatiana Loboda along with James Hubbard and Mike Flannigan discussed boreal forest fires and climate change on Diane Rehm show. This discussion comes in timely against the backdrop of the recent massive boreal forest fires in Alberta. According to Dr. Loboda, Alaska has recorded 3 of the largest fires in its history in the last 15 years. Similar trends have been observed in Siberia and Russian Far East which has experienced much greater increase in forest loss. Dr. Loboda further explains that changing precipitation regimes as observed in Russia, may trigger more fires in future.
